Need for Darkness

This afternoon I asked my eight-year-old at least five times to join me for a bike ride around our neighborhood.
It wasn’t until dinner was done and gone was the sun that she said yes.
My teen didn’t even roll her eyes at our invitation.
Instead, they were both eager to find their lights and step outside.
While the street lights paved their path, the lights blinking on their bikes made me feel safe.
I was reminded that sometimes we need darkness to see the light.
We can’t be afraid of the darkness.
We must continue to find our light.
And if you’re afraid your light is going dim, step outside and let the light from another guide you. ✨✨✨
