Faith Over Fear

What are we supposed to do when things feel uncertain? How do we handle the unknown?

It’s only human to run to a place of protection, to guard the heart and emotions. These emotions? This pause in life?

I don’t know. I don’t think any of us do.

We’ve never been here before. This time, we’re walking together, mourning, learning, and, most of all, having to lean in, listen, and trust.

I’m reminded of these words…Lean in and kneel.

Kneel down and lean in.

These are the only words that make any sense.

Kneel down and lean in, surrendering the control we crave. The truth is, there’s not much we can control except how we respond and react.

Can we kneel and lean into our responses and reactions? We face new challenges daily as we watch and listen to things unfold. What if, before we react, we lean in and ask for guidance on how to respond?

Lean into faith, not fear.

Fear tells us to numb out. Food, booze, drugs, over-exercising, too much screen time, the list goes on. How we humans cope with the uncomfortable might look different from person to person, but make no mistake, everyone has their thing.

Don’t let fear take control; know the world needs you. If you’ve been numbing out to deal with how hard and uncomfortable this is, contact someone for support.

Kneel down, lean in, and listen.

Listen to the calm voice that wants to guide you to peace. Create space to listen to each other.

It may take more humility, empathy, and understanding than we’re used to. Yet maybe it’s through our hearing that our healing can begin.
