Mama’s They’re Watching Us…

Now more than ever, they are watching our relationship with exercise and how we practice self-care.

I know it’s hard.

I’m not writing this to preach or shame anyone in how you are doing you.

What I do know is what self-care looked like before quarantine is very different than it probably looks today.

Don’t think about that. Don’t think about what you used to do when it was just the “normal” grind.

Things are not normal. It’s gonna be a while before we get back to normal.

We still need to take care of ourselves, so we can take care of our people.

Take care of yourself with kindness.

Be gentle with yourself and others.

Show compassion to the woman now called to homeschool while working from home and be present, creative, and positive for her family.
Her world, along with everyone else’s world, just got rocked.

It’s okay to give her time to find her balance.

Practice healthy movement because it makes you smile. Because it boosts mood and decreases stress.

Move daily. Not because some posts made you feel guilty, but because you want to smile with, at, and, for your people.

When you are smiling, they smile. They want to join in. They see movement is fun, not a punishment.

I’m not saying you have to smile all the time, I promise I’m not. That’s an unrealistic expectation none of us need to put on ourselves.
However, if the smiles are few and far between, I nudge you to think, how can you move in a way that makes you grin?

Turn on the music, and I think you’ll find your groove.
They’ll see you smile.
They’ll smile and move to your beat.

And when all this is behind us, and they are having their own bad day, they’ll remember how their mama made them smile.
